Journalism professor has students work/teach newspapers

Published January 27, 2009 in Fellows Follow Up

Our very own July 2008 multimedia workshop alumnus John Temple is helping to organize an interesting partnership between West Virginia University's Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism and local publications in their area.

In the first phase, which began last semester, the students produced multimedia packages for several local papers, and learned how to use software and equipment. The second phase, which begins this Spring, students will train newsroom staff on the techniques they have learned. The partnership is a win-win for both the school and local papers who are training their staffers in multimedia storytelling techniques.

The program is funded in part by the McCormick Foundation.
