About Cerys Griffiths

GRIFFITHS, CERYS is the editor of TV news for the BBC in the North West of England. She is responsible for just over an hour of live TV news output a day, including the 30-minute flagship news program “North West Tonight”, and leads a team of 75 journalists and technical operators. The news dispatch covers major cities like Manchester and Liverpool as well as the very rural areas of Lancashire, Cheshire and the Lake District. Griffiths’ family is originally from Wales but she attended university in Manchester, graduating with an English and philosophy degree. She began her career in print journalism and then worked for Independent TV as a news reporter and producer before moving to the BBC five years ago. She enjoys cycling, films, reading and spending time with her family.
