About Dan Casarez

CASAREZ, DANIEL is the primary photographer at Vida en el Valle, a 162,000-circulation newspaper located in Fresno, CA. The bilingual (Spanish/English) publication has a coverage area from Tulare County (about 50 miles south of Fresno) to Sacramento. Casarez’s duties include planning all the photography, much of the writing and even production work on deadline days. Casarez focuses on a wide variety of stories and events relating to the Latino community. He also helps out by covering sports. A native of Fresno, with roots back to deep Mexico, Casarez earned a degree in liberal studies from Fresno Pacific University. He became a professional photographer over 20 years ago covering Association of Tennis Professionals and Women’s Tennis Association tournaments. He has been at Vida en el Valle since 2002. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, listening to great music and renovating his former duplex, a soon-to-be rental.
