About Michael Mccarthy
MCCARTHY, MICHAEL is editor of the LocalHealthGuide, an online health news Web site that focuses on local health news in the Seattle area. McCarthy has more than 20 years experience in medical journalism, including 10 years as a senior editor with the British medical journal The Lancet. For the last seven of those years, he served as the journal's North American editor. As a freelance reporter, McCarthy has written for The Washington Post, The Seattle Times, Los Angeles Times, Reuters news service and Microsoft's health reference project. He also reported on health and science for the National Public Radio affiliate KPLU-FM and the National Native News, a national news service that focuses on Native Americans. McCarthy has a bachelor's degree from Harvard University. He earned his medical degree from Boston University's School of Medicine.
