WILSON, PATRICK is the public safety reporter covering the cities of Norfolk and Portsmouth for The Virginian-Pilot and PilotOnline.com. He came to The Pilot as a breaking news reporter in March 2008 from the Winston-Salem Journal in North Carolina, where he covered crime and produced video for the Journal’s Web site. He has covered crime, weather, general assignments and features, as well as shooting and editing video and blogging during breaking news events. Patrick previously was a reporter at the Potomac News in Prince William County, Va., where he covered local government and courts. He is a Michigan native and graduated from Michigan State University in 1997 with a degree in journalism. He enjoys reading, watching movies and playing kickball.
