About Phil Manzano
Phil Manzano is a new member of The Oregonian's breaking news/online team. For the last six years, he has been team leader of the Metro Southwest suburban bureau supervising about a dozen editors, reporters and staff. He guided daily zone and enterprise coverage of six cities and parts of three counties within The Oregonian's 280,000 daily and 320,000 Sunday circulation. The bureau also published two weekly zoned tabs. He was a reporter for about a dozen years before moving to the editing side. Manzano was born and raised in San Francisco, graduating with a degree in journalism from California State University, San Francisco. An avid cyclist, he likes to get out and ride his Trek 1200 or, if it's too stormy, jump on the PS3. His mood on Sunday usually depends on how the 49ers are doing.
