About Rita Hibbard

As executive director and editor of InvestigateWest, Rita is creating a new model for investigative work and new pathways for information distribution for a news industry in transition. Her team creates stories that are produced across platforms, for distribution to online, print and broadcast media. She is working to create a new organization from the ground up, building a network of business partners and forging collaborative relationships among media partners. Her team maintains an active Web site daily, as well as being engaged in producing long-term investigative work that is focused on the Pacific Northwest and West. As assistant managing editor for news at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Rita took a newsroom from print to digital, transforming a culture from one of tomorrow to now, and building community conversations through staff and reader blogging and immediate reader/user interaction. As direct editor of the investigative team, her reporters covered issues from corrupt cops to clear-cutting Boy Scouts to government officials whose cronyism cost military families housing and taxpayers millions of dollars, winning national recognition in the process.
