About Wendy Norris
NORRIS, WENDY is the editor/publisher of WesternCitizen.com, an online news network that encourages civic engagement in the Rocky Mountain West. Inspired by a news entrepreneur fellowship at the USC-Annenberg School/Knight Digital Media Center, she launched the site in Nov. 2009 to pursue the program's challenge of creating a sustainable online news business model. Her first journalism job came after two decades as a social worker and nonprofit director. In 2006, she teamed up with the Center for Independent Media to launch the state political news site, ColoradoIndependent.com. She stepped down as state editor in July to found Western Citizen. As a contributing writer for RH Reality Check, Religion Dispatches and Ms. Magazine, Wendy reports on the third rail of polite conversation — sex, politics and religion. She is a native of Cleveland, OH, but now resides in Denver, CO, where she enjoys life as a thrifty bonvivant.
