SANTALIZ ESTADES, AMELIA is a journalist with 19 years of experience in print and broadcast, radio and television in Puerto Rico and Los Ángeles, California. Since 2007, she has been the managing editor of La Opinión, the main Spanish newspaper in the USA. Also she was the editor in chief that worked with Claudia Nuñez, who received national awards for the series about work slain and human traffic in California. For 17 years she worked at El Nuevo Día, the most important newspaper in Puerto Rico. In those 17 years she covered and developed several beats including sports, security, politics and diverse and varied investigations. For her outstanding work she received several national awards. In 2001 she became the first woman in Puerto Rico to be in charge of a print Sports editorial department. After that was an assignment Sunday chief editor.
