Multimedia and Technology Training At the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism
FIGUEROA, ALEX is a reporter at Primera Hora, a 125,000-circulation daily newspaper that covers Puerto Rico. Today, Figueroa works at the sports department. He mainly writes about baseball, basketball, boxing and volleyball. He also designs pages for the print edition and helps to update the newspaper’s website. Recently, he started to produce multimedia content for the sports and other departments’ coverage on the Internet. Figueroa graduated with a degree in communications from the University of Puerto Rico. He also worked for his university’s newspaper in San Juan; El Diario/La Prensa daily newspaper in New York; and Spain’s EFE News Agency bureau in San Juan. Figueroa also is a master’s student of history at the Center for Advance Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. He also enjoys listening to music, dancing and camping. These days he is reading: “First-Time Dads”, as he will be one in September.
