About Adam Glenn

I'm an educator, award-winning journalist, digital media consultant and experimenter who specializes in digital content strategies, startups and online community. During my nearly 30-year career, I have worked in every medium, spending the last 12 years in online, working with and for major media companies, journalism institutes, charitable foundations, and academic institutions.

As an educator and trainer, my passion for improving journalism has led me to serve as adjunct faculty for two leading journalism schools, as well as to commit many hundreds of hours to helping improve the quality and standing of the profession with service to leading journalism organizations, primarily by organizing and moderating a wide array of series of skill-based and issue-oriented media workshops and seminars. At Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, and at New York University's Carter Journalism Institute, I have created new courses and revitalized existing ones, as well as managed an innovative post-graduate journalism fellowship program now in its fifth year.

As a journalist, I have worked in print, online and network newsrooms -- most recently as a senior producer for ABCNews.com -- shaping editorial direction, building news teams as large as two dozen staff, managing budgets and day-to-day operations. An award-winning editorial generalist, I spent years as a deadline reporter and has built reporting specializations in environment, science, health, technology, business and the media.

As an independent digital media consultant since 2005, I have provided strategic advice and project management guidance to a wide array of organizations and individuals. My client roster includes former NBC Universal Chairman Bob Wright, J-Lab and its Knight Citizen News Network at American University, the Knight Digital Media Center at the University of Southern California, The Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri, Hechinger Institute for Education & The Media at Columbia University, Environment 360 at Yale University, The Marist Institute for Public Opinion’s Trendbreakers, The Shelley and Donald Rubin Foundation’s Rubin Museum of Art, the New York Press Association, and magazine publisher Rodale’s Prevention Magazine, among others.

I have also co-founded two consulting partnerships, I, Reporter, which won one of the first prestigious Knight News Challenge Awards in 2007, and BGV Media, a consulting group which specializes in digital media strategy for non-profits, as well as providing expert advice on content management systems.
