About Ann Heppermann

HEPPERMANN, ANN is an award winning independent public radio producer and media artist based in New York City who works with Kara Oehler. Their stories and long-form documentaries have aired nationally and internationally on public radio shows including: This American Life, Morning Edition, Weekend America, BBC, CBC, Radio Lab, Marketplace and numerous others. Their media projects have won Peabody, RTNDA Edward R. Murrow, NFCB Golden Reel, PRNDI, Associated Press and Third Coast International Audio Festival (TCIAF) awards, and been exhibited at Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), UnionDocs and Conflux. They have lectured at TCIAF, Center for Documentary Studies at Duke, the New School, and Columbia University. Currently, they teach at Sarah Lawrence College. Their latest multi-media work (with Jesse Shapins and James Burns) is Mapping Main Street, a collaborative documentary project that invites the nation to document the more than 10 thousand streets named Main in the United States through photographs, radio stories, videos and songs.
