About Adrianne Appel

APPEL, ADRIANNE is an economics and environmental correspondent with Inter Press Service, an international news service founded in 1964 that reaches millions today via Web, print and radio. Appel's investigative, news and science/health stories have been published in The New York Times, National Geographic News, Christian Science Monitor, Barrons, Nature and elsewhere. She is the co-author of a consumer health book about HIV care. She worked as a reporter in Washington, DC, covering the health care reform debate and national politics. However, Capitol Hill was just a training ground for what Appel would encounter while reporting about Massachusetts politics, where she is currently based.
