About Barbara J Grady-Ayer
GRADY, BARBARA has been a print journalist for many years, reporting for Reuters New Service and the Oakland Tribune with a stint in between freelancing for magazines during the dot.com era. In 2009 Barbara and a colleague at the Oakland Tribune received a Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists for their series on the commercial sexual exploitation of children in Oakland. Currently, Barbara is a freelancer writing environmental and community news and completing another project on human trafficking of children through a grant from the G.W. Williams Center for Independent Journalism. Barbara plans to use the skills she learns at the Knight Digital Media Center workshop on that project as well as in her community news and environmental news blogs.
