WISTROM, BRENT covers city hall at The Wichita Eagle, circulation 85,000 weekdays and 122,000 on Sunday. This qualifies as Kansas’ largest newspaper. Wistrom has worked there nearly four years. That has involved multimedia reporting from the Republican National Convention, a wild 24-hours in Greensburg after a tornado erased it, road trips to explore immigration, a stint in the statehouse and lots of political muckracking. The 29-year-old reporter has a journalism degree from the University of Texas. He has also completed IRE’s CAR Boot Camp and Better Watchdog workshop. For most purposes, he’s fluent in Spanish after spending a year in Guanajuato, Mexico, during college. Before moving to Wichita, he worked as a city hall reporter in Wichita Falls, TX. Outside the newsroom, the Minnesota native has strong interest in music, travel, photography, basketball, snowboarding, mountain biking, nightlife and a big yellow lab named Vino.
