About Jonathan Brunt
BRUNT, JONATHAN is a local government reporter for The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Wash. Brunt grew up in southeastern Michigan and attended Michigan State University, where he earned a journalism degree and worked for the college paper, The State News. He interned at The Jackson Citizen Patriot in Jackson, Mich., The Detroit News Washington bureau and Quill magazine, the monthly publication of the Society of Professional Journalists. Brunt worked as the night cops reporter for The Spokesman-Review before landing a job in 2001 as a suburban government reporter at The Idaho Statesman in Boise. After a year in AmeriCorps, he started again at The Spokane-Review in 2004, first as a cops reporter and in 2006 as a local government reporter. Brunt often enjoys working on his old home, even if he's inefficient at doing so. He also attempts to ski, bake pies and run.
