About Cassandra Brenton
Cassandra Brenton is associate editor of Sunday publications and manager of the Sunday desk. Brenton is primarily responsible for shaping the news content of the Sunday Observer — the sister publication of the Daily Observer — and supervising reporters. Brenton has been employed at the Jamaica Observer since August 1993. She has held a number of posts, including general news reporter, coordinator, assistant news editor and associate editor-news. Over the years, Brenton has won several fellowships and awards, including awards from the Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) for both human-interest coverage and a series of articles on immigration. She was also selected from a field of 300 candidates for one of five scholarships offered by the British Government, the British Chevening Scholarship. She was also awarded fellowships from the Reuters Foundation (International News Writing workshop, September 2003) and the Commonwealth Press Union (Investigative Training workshop, Port of Spain, Trinidad, July 1998). Brenton enjoys reading, listening to music, surfing and online shopping.
