She has also covered the health, science, courts, and Berkeley beats. Burt was a member of the Chauncey Bailey Project, a consortium of journalists from different media organizations who worked together to investigate the murder of Oakland Post editor Chauncey Bailey. She is a San Francisco Bay Area native and graduated with a degree in journalism from San Francisco State University in 1992. Burt enjoys biking, hiking and camping. She is an avid Giants fan, and is still basking in the glory of the team’s World Series win.
