About Chad Lawhorn

Chad Lawhorn's avatar image LAWHORN, CHAD is the neighborhood and city government reporter for the Lawrence (KS) Journal-World, a 20,000-circulation daily that covers northeast Kansas and the University of Kansas. Lawhorn writes a daily blog, “Town Talk”, which provides readers with the latest business and development news and the juicy rumblings of city government. Lawhorn also frequently practices first-person journalism. He has written articles about his experiences as a sanitation worker hanging off the back of a trash truck, as a community theater novice trying out for a production of Annie!, and as an applicant to receive a concealed carry license in Kansas. Prior to joining the Journal-World in 2001, Lawhorn owned his own weekly newspaper publishing company in eastern Kansas. He and his wife have two children, and he enjoys barbecue, boating and billiards.
