About Claudia Melendez
MELÉNDEZ, CLAUDIA covers education and immigration for the Monterey County Herald a daily newspaper that covers Monterey County on California’s central coast, where she has worked since 2005. In 2008 she was named an Annenberg Fellow, which gave her the opportunity for postgraduate study in Specialized Journalism at the University of Southern California. Melendez has worked in California, Texas, and Mexico, and her work has appeared in national and international outlets such as Latina and El Andar magazines, La Opinión and La Jornada newspapers.
