About Christine Metz
METZ, CHRISTINE is a special projects reporter for the Lawrence Journal-World, a 20,000-circulation newspaper in northeast Kansas. She also produces television packages for 6News, a local television station converged with the newspaper. Metz is responsible for pulling together in-depth, weekend stories for both print and television. The stories very often include multimedia components such as online chats, video, slideshows and interactive maps. Metz grew up in central Pennsylvania and graduated with degrees in journalism and economics from Lehigh University. Her first newspaper job out of college was in Steamboat Springs, CO, as a beat reporter for high school sports. She later covered government, courts and crime. In 2005, Metz moved to Bend, OR, to work for The Bulletin as a city hall reporter. Last March, she started with the Lawrence Journal-World. Metz is an active road biker, runner and reader. When not in Kansas, she enjoys hiking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and mountain biking.
