About Laura Cochran

COCHRAN, LAURA is a content manager for Gannett Digital, where she works on new product development, as well as, the enhancement and optimization of existing Gannett products. Her team works very closely with an audience research team that helps guide the content managers in decisions about usability and functionality of our digital products, as well as, how to capture your target audience.

Prior to joining Gannett, Laura worked as a senior web producer at washingtonpost.com in Arlington, VA. During the three years she spent producing, she worked closely with the Maryland, D.C. and Virginia political and government editors to find creative ways to engage online readers and encourage participation in conversation during election cycles and legislative sessions, as well as, in county and town-level civic issues.

Cochran is a native of the D.C.-area and received her undergraduate degree in journalism from James Madison University. After graduation, she spent a couple of years at the University of Memphis getting her master’s degree in journalism administration, which is where she got her first start in online journalism at The Commercial Appeal. When she’s not at work, she’s doing anything that involves being outside. She loves running, road trips and a long day at the beach.
