About Corey Takahashi

Corey Takahashi is a journalist, writer, and multimedia producer. He started his career in New York City, as a founding editor at Blaze magazine, and later worked on staff as an editor for Vibe. Corey was a freelance correspondent at the time of Vibe’s National Magazine Award for General Excellence. His independent work was nominated for an individual NMA, selected for the Best Music Writing anthology, and received special recognition from the Center for Documentary Studies. Corey also worked on staff at Entertainment Weekly, Newsday, and Public Radio International/New York Public Radio.

His recent focus on digital innovation and hybrid media forms has lead to collaborations with independent publishers and producers, mobile app developers, and podcasters. Corey also has contributed feature stories to Monocle, NPR, CBC, BBC/PRI, and The New York Times.

A storyteller and communicator in text, audio, and video, his subjects range from street culture to tech culture. He has a special interest in global and transnational cultures, as well as technology and emerging media. Corey graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and studied as a fellow at McGill University, Berkeley, and USC. He is based in Los Angeles.
