About Matylda Czarnecka

CZARNECKA, MATYLDA, specialty product manager for The Bakersfield Californian's Interactive Media division, works on a variety of projects such as mapping mash-ups, expanding mobile offerings, producing web videos and exploring miscellaneous challenges tossed her way. Prior to the Californian, she was the e-media developer for The Durango Herald where she was charged with conceptualizing and implementing traffic- and revenue-generating ideas for durangoherald.com, as well as training news staff on multimedia equipment and techniques. In addition to her online journalism experience, she has been actively involved with ACM SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on Graphics and Interactive Techniques) since 1999. Last year, she served on the conference planning committee as the Student Volunteers Program Chair, building community among and leading a team of more than 350 volunteers from all corners of the world. She is a graduate of Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a dual degree in Television/Radio/Film and Anthropology.
