About Daniela Gerson
GERSON, DANIELA is the manager of the Alhambra Project, a joint communication and journalism initiative at the University of Southern California that is developing a multilingual Website to serve the predominantly Latino and Asian residents of a Los Angeles suburb. Gerson, a print and radio journalist specializing in immigration coverage, has worked for daily newspapers, public radio, and online outlets. A native of Washington DC, Gerson received a BA from Brown University and a masters degree in Specialized Reporting on immigration from USC’s Annenberg School of Communication. She began reporting on immigration as a staff writer for the New York Sun, which led to a position contributing special projects to WNYC. She also worked in Berlin with support from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, where she researched temporary worker programs and freelanced. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese, can get by in German and Hebrew, and is now picking up some Mandarin.
