About Derek Pruitt
PRUITT, DEREK is the chief photographer at The Post-Star, a 31,500-circulation newspaper based in Glen Falls that covers eastern upstate New York. He works with editors, reporters and photographers to plan and execute the visual side of the daily and Sunday news product for both print and web editions. Pruitt is a native of Montana and graduated with a film & television degree from Montana State University followed by graduate studies at the University of Montana's Journalism School. His first newspaper job was at The Montana Standard in Butte, MT, (former home to Evel Knievel) where he planned to stay two years and stayed eight because of the town's unique characters and interesting stories. Pruitt moved to Glens Falls to add some management skills to his repertoire and to explore the Northeast, an area he enjoyed while interning in Quincy, MA. He enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing and roaming little hamlets and villages in the Northeast.
