About Dennis Joyce

JOYCE, DENNIS is senior editor for continuous news with TBO.com in Tampa, guiding a staff of 22 people who spearhead the online news report of The Tampa Tribune and News Channel 8.
He joined the Tribune as metro editor in 2005 after more than 25 years working as a reporter and editor with newspapers in Arizona, Kentucky, Florida, Virginia and Idaho. Most recently, he had been editorial page editor of the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson. Born and raised in Tucson, Joyce holds a degree in journalism from the University of Arizona. Joyce has edited work that won top honors from the Unity Awards in Media, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, and the Society of News Design. He led a statewide project, “Collision Course: Prisons versus Higher Education in Idaho,” that received the national James K. Batten Award for Excellence in Civic Journalism. He is married to Emilie Joyce, an environmental educator. The couple has two children, Daniel, 23, who works with the Latin American think-tank Inter-American Dialogue in Washington, D.C., and Conor, 15, a high school freshman.
