About Dmitry Shishkin

was born in Moscow. He started working for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Russian Service in 1997 as a radio producer-trainee, while at the same time attending Moscow State University. He graduated from the journalism faculty with honors in 1999 as an international TV and radio journalist with knowledge of English, Spanish and Serbian, all while continuing to work for the BBC. While still in Moscow he regularly contributed to BBC World Service English, BBC Radio 5 “Live” and various local BBC radio stations. In late 2000 he transferred to London to work as a producer on BBCRussian.com. In 2006, he became senior producer for video content, and in 2008 was promoted to acting editor for the same site. In May 2009, he was promoted to managing editor, BBC Russian Service. In May 2011 he became development editor for BBC World Service, responsible for a multilingual portfolio of 27 multimedia news websites. His interests include: sports, blogging on Twitter as well as traveling and cooking.
