Multimedia and Technology Training At the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism
WOODS, DAVE is new media editor of The Joplin Globe, a 31,000 average daily circulation newspaper in southwest Missouri serving 60 communities in three states – Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. He is responsible for the daily site operation and news direction at joplinglobe.com (1.85 million page views monthly) and profiles.joplinglobe.com, the multi-media component of The Globe’s life & style magazine, PROFiLES. Woods joined The Globe’s staff in 2005 as new media editor. He is a member of the leadership team, chairs The Globe’s marketing committee and writes for the editorial board. He contributes print-first news and feature stories, contributes a weekly column and trains co-workers in the use of audio and video recording, editing and story telling. He works to change the print-only culture of the newsroom and to integrate digital media into the newsroom’s daily operation. Woods hails from Miami, OK. He pursued a BA in theater at The University of Tulsa. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class and received a Navy Achievement Medal for his service in Central America.
