About Kathy Foley

KATHY FOLEY is assistant managing editor, Online News, Research and Technology at the San Antonio (TX) Express-News. Foley is the liaison between the newspaper's newsroom and the newsroom for MySanAntonio.com, a web site jointly owned with local station KENS-TV. Before becoming assistant managing editor, she was editor of information services where she established an information infrastructure in the newsroom and developed Ensite, a corporate Intranet in 1997. Foley also was deputy director of information services for the Washington Post where she managed online publishing efforts prior to the launch of washingtonpost.com. She is the former chair of the Special Libraries Association News Division and a planner and trainer for the Texas chapter of Associated Press Managing Editors, computer assisted reporting workshops. She also is visiting faculty at the Poynter Institute. Foley has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Dallas and a Master's degree from Catholic University in Washington, DC.
