About gburkins

BURKINS, GLENN is editor and publisher of Qcitymetro.com, an online news site targeting Charlotte, N.C.'s, African American community. Launched on Dec. 8, 2008, the site covers news, features, entertainment and the local faith community. A native of McConnells, S.C., he graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in journalism. His first job was at the St. Petersburg Times, Fla. where he covered tourism. He also wrote for the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he was a personal finance columnist and the paper's Africa correspondent based in Johannesburg; and for the Wall Street Journal, where he covered labor and later the White House. He was executive business editor at the Charlotte Observer and left as deputy managing editor to launch Qcitymetro. Aside from work, he enjoys few activities these days.
