About Beth Renneisen

RENNEISEN, BETH is the graphics editor at the Marin Independent Journal, a 38,000-circulation newspaper that covers Marin County, CA. Her responsibilities include the overall design of the newspaper, designing cover pages for the Lifestyles section, IJ Weekend (the tabloid entertainment section) and producing informational graphics and packaging for news sections. She has previously managed a staff of graphic artists and the photo department. Renneisen occasionally writes business and feature stories, accompanied by her own photographs. She is a native of Louisville, KY, and studied fine art at the University of Kentucky and the Art Institute of Boston. She is just completing a bachelor’s in journalism at San Francisco State University. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in visual journalism in the fall. Renneisen worked at student publications and weeklies before moving to California and joining the Marin IJ, where she has won awards for graphics and page design from Gannett, SND, APNEC and CNPA. In addition to painting and illustration, Beth enjoys mountain biking and beekeeping. Her wildflower honey won Best of Show in the 2007 Marin County Fair.
