About Harry Mok

MOK, HARRY is by day an editor-writer for the communications department of the University of California Office of the President. By night (and other times) he’s editor in chief of Hyphen, a nonprofit volunteer-run news and cultural magazine with the goal of providing nuanced coverage of Asian American issues. Prior to joining UC in 2009, he was an online producer for the Contra Costa Times and Oakland Tribune for nearly five years. He also worked for more than a decade as a newspaper copy editor, including stints at the San Francisco Chronicle, Newsday and San Francisco Examiner. He has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from San Jose State University and a MJ from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Though he grew up on Chinese vegetable farm in the Sacramento Valley, he enjoys the city life of San Francisco and summer days at watching Giants baseball at AT&T Park.
