About Sona Patel
PATEL, SONA is a reporter at The Tribune, a 40,000-circulation newspaper that covers San Luis Obispo County on California's central coast. Her responsibilities include covering the city of Morro Bay, the community services district and a community college. She also files breaking news stories and occasionally produces and edits her own audio and video. Patel is a native of Mission Viejo, CA in south Orange County and graduated with degrees in literary journalism and Spanish with a minor in computer science from the University of California at Irvine. While attending UCI she worked as a reporter for the city's cable station and participated in press trips to Taiwan, Israel, and Poland. She started as an intern at The Tribune in July 2006 as a Chips Quinn Scholar. She enjoys traveling, reading and cooking.
