About Howard Hogan

Howard  Hogan's avatar image Hogan, Howard is the Associate Director for Demographic Programs at the U.S. Census Bureau, where he is responsible for programs that provide social and economic data about the nation’s population and households and for those that produce population projections and estimates. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College in Economics & Mathematics. He has a Masters in Public Affairs from Woodrow Wilson School and a Masters in Economics from Princeton University. He completed his doctorate of philosophy at Princeton's Office of Population Research. After his degree, he worked two years as a demographer in Tanzania. He joined the Census Bureau in 1979 as a demographer working on census coverage measurement. He has worked in all areas of the Census Bureau: Demographic, Decennial and Economic. He has taught as an adjunct professor in statistics at George Washington University, and he has also taught demography and data analysis. He is an Honorary Fellow of the American Statistical Association.
