About Peter Huoppi

HUOPPI, PETER is a staff photographer at the Burlington Free Press in Burlington, Vermont. He has been a member of the four-person staff at the Free Press since November of 2002. In addition to daily still photography, he has recently started producing video and multimedia stories for the Web, and started a photo blog at the newspaper's Web site. A native of northeast Connecticut, he attended high school in Massachusetts before earning a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. The fine maple syrup and sharp cheddar cheese kept him in Vermont as a freelance photographer for two and a half years before starting at the Free Press. He enjoys hiking, mountain biking and sailing during the few warm months in Vermont, and playing ice hockey and skiing during the rest of the year. Peter lives in Colchester with his wife Jennifer and their two Labrador retrievers, Remy and Barrett, who are named for former Boston Red Sox second basemen.
