About Jonathan Donley
DONLEY, JON is founding editor of NOLA.com, the web affiliate of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. A veteran newspaperman, Jon spent nearly two decades in print journalism - as reporter, columnist, news editor and technical/electronic reporting liaison - before moving fulltime into new media. Before moving to the Crescent City in 1997, Jon launched the web site at the San Antonio Express-News. During Hurricane Katrina, Jon worked from the Times-Picayune's hurricane bunker to keep uninterrupted news coverage online. He also directed NOLA's expansion of forums, blogs and other features to guide search and rescue efforts, reunite scattered hurricane victims and facilitate grass-roots reporting and communication. Jon was part of the team awarded the 2006 Pulitzers for public service and breaking news. NOLA.com also received the first Knight Foundation Online Journalism Award for Public Service in 2006. Jon and his wife, Connie, have seven adult children and are active in powwows and ongoing animal rescues in the Gulf South.
