About Jeff Costello

COSTELLO, JEFF is a photo editor in the news department at AOL, working out of Dulles, VA. His team is responsible for illustrating stories on the main AOL News site as well as contributing to a group of topical news websites such as Fanhouse, Walletpop, GNN.com and PoliticsDaily. In his five years at AOL, he has acted as team lead on several franchises within the news site such as Eye on the News gallery, News Bloggers' Photo of the Day, Far Out Photos, and The Daily Pulse. In 2008, he managed and worked as onsite editor for a team of three photographers covering the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, one of the most rewarding and exhausting jobs he can think of. Born into a military family, his early childhood was spent in Washington, DC, New York City, Guam, and Hawaii, but he has been settled in the DC area for most of his life. He obtained a degree in psychology from George Mason University, and attended graduate school at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse, NY. He has worked as staff photographer for the Auburn Citizen in Auburn, NY and for the Gazette weeklies in Prince George's County, Maryland. He enjoys reading, technology blogs, video games, and live music.
