About Jorge Chavez
CHÁVEZ, JORGE is the copy chief at Al Día, a Spanish-Language newspaper that covers the Dallas-Fort Worth area. His responsibilities include editing the front page, editing local, national and international stories, as well as page layout, supervising production and updating the website. Al Día is a publication of the Dallas Morning News and has a circulation of 120,000 on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Chávez is originally from Ciudad Juárez, México, where he started writing for the local newspaper at age 16. He worked as entertainment writer, general assignment reporter, editor and investigative reporter in Juárez before moving to Dallas, TX in 2003. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and a master’s from Florida International University. He enjoys live music, food, movies and reading.
