About Jim Ware
In July 2010, I was named online products manager for StarNews Media in Wilmington, NC, a member of the New York Times Regional Media Group.
My responsibilities include managing MyReporter.com, a 2009 winner in the Knight-Batten Awards for Innovations in Journalism, and MyBackyardNC.com, named among the 30 most innovative journalism websites in the 2010 awards.
Prior to being named online products manager, I was a local news editor at the StarNews and StarNewsOnline.com; an online editor for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review; an assistant city editor at the Valley News Dispatch in Tarentum, PA; city editor, community news editor and editorial page editor at The Saratogian and Community News in Saratoga Springs, NY; and assistant city editor at The Herald-Dispatch in Huntington, WV.
I am a graduate of the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism at Marshall University in Huntington, WV.
