About John Moore

MOORE, JOHN is managing editor of The Ventura County Star, a 95,000-circulation newspaper covering Ventura County, California, just north of Los Angeles. He has oversight of all news sections of the Star, which publishes six editions daily, as well as news content for VenturaCountyStar.com. The Star has won the California Newspaper Publishers Association General Excellence award for its circulation class for the past two years and recently received General Excellence for its website from the Online News Association, the only organization to have received the award twice. Moore is a native of Arizona and spent much of his early career working on newspapers in Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. He spent five years in Washington D.C. with Scripps Howard News Service and was editor of the San Luis Obispo Telegram-Tribune before joining The Star in 1997. He has been managing editor for two years. Moore holds a bachelor's degree in business management and master's degree in public policy and administration from California Lutheran University.
