About Kimberly Barth

BARTH, KIMBERLY is the director of photography and graphics at the Akron Beacon Journal in Akron, OH. Responsibilities include overseeing a staff of five photographers, two picture editors and three artists for the 110,00 circulation daily paper and Ohio.com website. She also works directly with designers and assignment editors on photo usage and layout of the daily sections. Barth joined the Beacon in 1998 as a staff photographer, worked as picture editor and assignment editor before becoming the DOP in 2004. Prior to the Beacon, Barth was a contract photographer for AFP in Cleveland, a stringer for the Associated Press in NE Ohio, a shooter at the Elyria Chronicle Telegram and The New Philadelphia Times Reporter. Barth loves to sing and currently is a bass in the City of Flags Chorus, a local chapter of the Sweet Adelines International. If she’s not singing, she’s outside working in the yard or driving her convertible.
