About Kwan Booth

BOOTH, KWAN is a writer, editor and cultural curator in Oakland, CA. He's an online editor at The Oakbook Magazine (http://www.theoakbook.com) and founder of the Otherside Media collective. He is also the former Associate Editor of the Oakland Post newspaper and has held editorial positions at Festivalpreview.com, NotforTourists.com and 10best.com. Booth has completed citizen journalism and social networking contracts for several organizations and spends much of his time working on projects that use media and technology as ways to reach and empower underserved communities. He is interested in how communities communicate and the roles that art, media and technology play in facilitating these conversations. His most recent project is “Say I'm Different,” a multimedia investigation into avant-garde culture throughout the African Diaspora.
