About Kathleen Galligan

GALLIGAN, KATHLEEN accepted a staff photographer position at the Detroit Free Press in 2003 after a long freelance career. At the Free Press she has worked extensively on child welfare issues. She's covered mentally ill teens in the juvenile justice system and is currently finishing a three-year project covering aspects of adoption and the foster care system. She was part of the national Emmy award winning team at the Detroit Free Press for "Michigan Marines: Band of Brothers" in the category of current news coverage for broadband. Galligan has two sons, Sean, 22 and Zack, 20 and a dog named Kitty.
