I’m an arts and culture writer turned digital media graduate student at the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism in Los Angeles.

My full resume is here.

I often like to talk endlessly about “the future of journalism” and my goal in returning to school was to learn all I could about cultivating news websites that engage with readers and in converting print newsrooms into places that think Web first.

OK, I admittedly wrote the above paragraph years ago. It may have been in my grad school application essay. At the time I believed in those statements passionately. These days I don’t know how I feel about newspapers. Can they be “saved?” Should they?

What I do know is that I will always believe in is journalism, and I think this a hell of an exciting time to be a journalist. It’s pee-your-pants scary, too. I know that. But mostly I’m excited to be here at a time of innovation and experimentation.

It’s no surprise then, that most recently I’ve started researching the notion of entrepreneurial journalism: what is it, what does it take to make it work, who’s doing it successfully and how.

I’m also partial to music, movies, politics, throwing darts, a stiff drink and a great story to tell the morning after.
