About Amy Kovac

KOVAC, AMY L. took a large leap into the world of online journalism in October 2006, when she became the content editor of BigLickU.com (located in Blacksburg, VA). The Web site, which launched in March, is a new product of The Roanoke Times and is a social networking, news and information portal for the college students in Southwest Virginia. She previously was a higher education reporter for The Roanoke Times, covering college life and Radford University; an education and municipal reporter for the Herald News in West Paterson, NJ; and the assistant managing editor, copy editor and editorial assistant for Foreign Policy magazine in Washington, DC Amy grew up in the deserts of Southern California and misses living in the Golden State. She graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor's degree in history and a Master's degree in Russian and East European studies. She also has a Master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. She loves traveling, talking shop about journalism, going to her book club and working out with her trainer.
