About Kathryn Martin Sosbe

SOSBE, KATHRYN is the online/breaking news editor at the Idaho Statesman, a 146,206-circulation newspaper based in Boise — Idaho’s state capital. Her responsibilities include planning and editing with other metro editors and working closely with other online editors and the news desk. One of her first projects with the Statesman was the development of the Seven Wonders of Idaho, which mirrored the renaming of the Seven Wonders of the World. She also was instrumental in developing a working relationship with Zoo Boise to get a behind-the-scenes look at the raising of the first gibbon ever born at the zoo after its mother rejected it. It was the first time the zoo had allowed such extensive behind-the-scenes access. Sosbe is a native of Evansville, IN, where she worked for the Courier as a copy “girl” and served as the Teen Page reporter and teen editor. After an eight-year stint in the military, she worked for the Colorado Springs Gazette for 18 years, including as a metro reporter, assistant city editor, training and development editor and home and garden editor. She was an assistant city editor at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, working in the Palm Beach County bureau during the 2000 Presidential Elections. She enjoys listening to music, reading, camping, learning American Sign Language and making jewelry.
