About Lanita Pace-Hinton
Lanita Pace-Hinton is the director of kdmcBerkeley, a digital media education and leadership program for media professionals based at the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. She has worked with the Knight center since 2000, previously as the associate director of the Western Knight Center for Specialized Journalism – the predecessor of the KDMC - developing high-level seminars for print, broadcast and online reporters, editors and producers who covered specialized topics. She began her journalism career as a feature writer with Gannett News Service and has written for the Detroit News and The Washington Post. She joined the staff of The Press-Enterprise, in Riverside, Calif., as a reporter and subsequently served as the assistant to the managing editor responsible for editorial recruitment, staff development and community outreach. Following her stint in daily journalism, she took a turn at teaching. She taught reporting and writing at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif., and was the advisor to the student newspaper. She received a master’s degree in education from the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Education and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Howard University.
