About Laura Sparks

SPARKS, LAURA has been the multimedia and graphics editor at the Wisconsin State Journal since September, 2006. She coordinates and produces audio, video, and interactive graphics for the Web and informational graphics for print. In cooperation with online staff, she also oversees the Web site design and development. Training the newsroom in multimedia reporting is a priority in her position. She has been with the State Journal since 1990 and was the graphics editor for ten years. Sparks is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington where she studied fine arts, with an emphasis on graphic design and painting. She was astonished by her first Macintosh computer in 1987 while the graphics editor at the Indiana Daily Student newspaper, and the amazement continues today. When not in the newsroom, Laura can be found working on her house, gardening, kayaking, hiking, drinking wine or sleeping.
