About Marcus Chan
CHAN, MARCUS is the multimedia editor at the San Francisco Chronicle/SFGate.com. He's been at that newspaper longer than he cares to admit, holding just about every imaginable job: composing room editor, copy editor, wire editor, tech columnist, and assistant business editor for technology. He made the transition from print to online in February 2005, when he and his reporter created their first podcast – at the time regarded as a pioneering effort in the daily newspaper industry. He spends most of his time now on online databases and Google Map mashups. He also oversees newsroom training. He enjoys watching "Human Weapon" on the History Channel and running. He believes that both are good preparation for surviving today's newsroom.
